Nuhmeh High Standards-Style! While having and maintaining high standards might lead to an easier time in accomplishing your goals or becoming what you want to become, it can also be a detriment without character or without the proper "attitude" or "mindset". As Thach Nguyen would advocate, "stay humble" and never compromise your selflessness or humanity. And only then, you might become a Pimped-Out, Lambo-Ridin' G like Thach haha.

You never know with content creators - some might all of a sudden quit or abandon their channels altogether. I'll usually give them a few months before deciding to unsub or not. It's even more unnerving if there are no updates or announcements. They just disappear or are gone. Kev Jumba might have been a prime example of that long ago.

McDonald's Big Arch looks disgusting - it is just a Big Mac supersized. Same synthetic, rubbery patties. The Big Arch = The Big Turd haha. Leave it up to Sungwon Cho to give a blunt, and truthful food review. It's a good thing he took his mind off of the horrible-ness of the world, and enjoyed his vacation in Asia. I do have an affinity for the classic double cheeseburgers combo meal once in awhile however.

Look, you Whale of a Lady. If you lost weight, then I'm the most popular, famous musician in the world. That snorlax might've looked in the mirror, and had that "Shallow Hal" type of interpretation or moment haha.

Say what you want about the leveling experience - it has always been part of the MMO. So, aside from just end-game PvP, the leveling is something I take my time with and enjoy (regardless of a crappy storyline or not).

I might have a new craving in Costco Cookies.

You know it's a must-watch when there's a Fart anecdote or discussion on "Dudes Behind The - Gaseous Anomalies"? haha. Tim Chantarangsu might be goddamn gassy, but some of us like myself also received that inquiry: "Why Do You Fart So Goddamn Much?!".

Collector's Editions in any video game tend to be over-priced. The Epic or Heroic Edition should have been priced at what the Base / Standard Edition is, and that should've lowered twenty dollars at least. But gaming companies go by business models - they go by how scammers think, "There's A Sucka Born Every Minute" to make money. You get tons of pixelated goodies (but even then, they suck balls), but they are all a waste. What happened to tangible goodies - art book, CD's, signed copies, etc. All it takes is a complete wipe or deletion of the Servers and your "pixelated goodies" are gone. What A Waste.

I'm only into end-game PvP. Nothing else - I don't give a rat's ass about. Otherwise, I was on the fence about this new expansion. Oh - and I'm still coming after that mclovin'-lookin'....haha. You mofos can't be elusive forever.

If Tony from LC Signs felt tremors all the way at his HQ or Factory, that must've been one, large - uh, whale. Or Snorlax. Or whatever it is. Would probably make Dave Blunts' crowd surfing stunt pale in comparison. Haha.

I still say it til this day. Playfully to my kids haha. Or, "Watchoootalkinabout'Doc'willis??" haha. This catchphrase is more than just a pint-sized saying - it's taller than Yao Ming. While Gary Coleman might've been sick of it, who didn't watch reruns because lil Arnold.

Roll call (current and future practice repertoire):
Liszt, Concert etudes No. 2 and No. 3
Schubert, Ave maria (2 verses / vocals)
Schubert, Impromptu No. 1
Schubert, Wanderer Fantasy (sometime in the future)
Liszt, Danse Macabre (sometime in the future)
J.S. Bach, finish the Variations
Beethoven, finish the "Appassionata"

I highly enjoy Tony Ann's visualizers, and visualizers in general - sometimes, they make the ideal music video. And good luck to Tony Ann's tour! So are there any plans to tour Asia.

"Things That Make You Go - WTF?!" haha. Tim Chantarangsu does know a bit too much about strip clubs - by day, Father Of The Year. By night, let's get horneh! *with fists pumping* Go Tim!, go Tim!, go Tim!, Go Tim!, etc. *extreme exaggerated mock dancing* haha. I think Tim C. should organize another group trip to a strip club - that'll get yer fans off their asses.

I began watching some J-Dramas. Some observations so far - I think they are enticing enough to watch more. Very meticulous and thorough, yet subdued and minimal (no over-emotional acting, minimal music, etc.). In contrast, K-Dramas tend to get overly intense and emotional. J-Dramas can get intense - but they don't need to show much. That's effective. I reckon C-Dramas are a bit of both. They probably add exaggerated elements as well.

My god - it wasn't as if D-So was lookin' at nudes or porn out in the open haha. Or was he. The hysterical reaction by the wifey was most likely acted, but seemed convincing enough haha. It's difficult to believe that it wasn't - if a spouse was that PO'd, the video or post would have been deleted or removed.

Inquiring minds want to know, where is Mac and what is he doing? Is there anything to be concerned about, did something happen. Well, it's a wait-and-see. But for fun, let's play multiple choices:

1. he lost his gear to record / upload
2. been busy settin' up shop in "Fuck It"
3. just trying to figure things out and taking a break (you'd think there at least be a small update on that).
4. just chillin' with his mother (you'd think there at least be a small update on that).

It could be none of these things, but my guess would be No. 3. I just blog about these things just because.

Speaking of another "just because", I've been watching some nostalgic vids about 10 to 15 interesting or secretive shit on classic shows or films from decades ago. Remember "Saved By The Bell" - I didn't know that Dustin Diamond was treated like an outcast and alienated by everyone for the full duration of the show's run (relatable, so there's a bit of sympathy). No surprise he wrote that "tell-all" book other than making money. He might've been an ass backstage, but who knows. Then you have other juicy tidbits like backstage rivalries, dating, becoming sick of the show and each other, alcoholism / caffeine pills, etc.

Nuhmeh-Rolls Royce-Style! Apparently, pimpin' is easy for Thach Nguyen with his new Thach-Mobile 2026 haha. All he has to do now is get new bling, convert the Royce into a Low Ridah, and he's all set.

More Tony LC Sign notables: "You, Ma'am - Are. A. Very. Large. (and round). Lady". And the Blobfish fits. yer. profile. Ha. Ha. Ha. Could be Dave Blunts' distant relative.

We definitely respect Quang Tran's cooking game. Any game. Especially the fried chicken. You could hear the crunch when he bites into it, and the juice oozing out.

Banquet > Hungry-Man. The portion size might not be as much has Hungry man, but it tastes better. Take it from Sungwon Cho. Haha.

Bela Bartok is a very technical composer - I've seen some sheet music but I'm not familiar or that exposed to the composer's repertoire at all. Except Microkosmos when learning the piano. Bartok is another benchmark for concert pianists. However - due to the unfamiliarity, it's probably not in my radar at all. Slavic composers are technically demanding. The melody would have to be inspiring and immersive (and not too long) to even consider learning a piece.

The most common question coming from Asian parents on Lunar New Year's - "Why U Still Fat?". Haha.

Sung Kang making the rounds in promoting his new film - looking forward to that. He also has an underdog story - not getting meaningful opportunities because of the way he looks, or being Asian (as with other Asian actors). And he has to create for himself. Daniel Dae Kim has been quiet (quiet kind of busy I guess, in a sense of avoiding social media. Only updating when necessary or need to). The way everything is just fucked up in today's society, I don't blame him. Most things are in a decline anyway - better not to.

Thursday, February 19, 2026

Social media funnies - This lady not only "sounds like" she ate the hottest fry, but also "looks like" she ate the entire menu haha. Or, perhaps some lingering thoughts: "Daayum - are you also suffering from Hemorrhoids?". Wreeeegh! I get that Confidence is everything, but there is a fine line between "confidence" and "embarrassing" yourself haha. And of course, the Guy - either William Hung's clone brother, or a relative of the Very Cool, Very Swag scam Guy.

Mountain coasters are the only coasters I'd have the guts to try. Sunglasses cams - it doesn't work for me. The tint makes the video look unnatural but the sound is alright - I prefer natural lighting. But on coasters, if they are the only ones available - it's probably more convenient then having it strapped to your wrist or holding it.

I'm focusing on Concert Etude No. 2, but also practicing No. 3 in conjunction a bit at a time.

"Dragon Songs" was one of two albums I purchased from Lang Lang. That was way back when CDs were a thing. These days, purchasing albums is a No-No. Registering for platforms is even a larger No-No (in this digital age, you can probably find a track anyway). While I agree with supporting artists directly (Tomo Nakayama-Type independent music or Video Game Pianist-type), I do not believe in supporting record labels because it benefits them more (in fact, they sort of slap their goddamn logo on an artist, and call that person their own as in a slave mentality). While labels help artists or musicians with exposure, it's all about profit and money for them. I think labels are completely useless otherwise. Back to "Dragon Songs" - I don't remember much from that album (the exceptional Yellow River Concerto comes to mind however).

Still - the album is a fitting one for Lunar New Year's, with unique Asian-sounding music. Sometimes, it's refreshing to listen to Asian music. I think Tan Dun was part of it.

Nuhmeh-Delicious Cookie-Style! Damn, Quang - perhaps help your wife open up a Bakery goods business for shipping as well as. That's the ideal cookie - moist while firm, not too thick or fluffy that might be crumbly, equal amounts or close to M & M pieces or other toppings, etc.

Monday, February 16, 2026

Happy Lunar New Year's! The next, best Festive holiday aside from the trifecta of Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas. Booyah.

Sungwon Cho aka ProZD has a knack for skits and witty humor. But I'm very much like most peeps who are forced to learn a board game - "I don't get it. I don't know. I don't get it - x 100". It's quite obvious sometimes, we fuckin' have no interest or board games bore the crap outta me. Or for some of us, we truly "don't get it" haha.

I'm a combo of all of these. I'm far from dyslexic, but my brain takes time in absorbing or processing information. Perhaps nothing in life really gets me motivated or interested. Except music, family and food. Food. Delicious, comfort food. Haha.

Sunday, February 15, 2026

Either the Camera Guy didn't know the platform he uploaded to only fits portrait-style or vertical recordings or the platform fucked up his upload. Either way, all them Fatties wouldn't fit anyway and neck cramps for everyone. Haha.

Eating uncooked rice grains? Let the rotund lady develop some weird symptoms - kidney stones, lymphodema, intestinal gas, lasting hemorrhoids or whatever. It's pure fun to talk out of my ass and not knowing what the hell I'm talkin' about sometimes haha. Everyone makes shit up nowadays anyway.

Var. 13 is one of my absolute favorites to play sometimes. It is not overly-emotional, but there is enough tender emotions to hit you in the feels. There is just a serene atmosphere or ambiance about it. Sometimes, I have to take a break from practicing or playing intense pieces. I'll definitely get back to Beethoven soon. For right now, the focus is on Liszt and finding more soft, tender pieces. Perhaps some contemporary or classics.

Saturday, February 14, 2026

Yesterday was Friday The 13th. Today is Valentine's. Which do I prefer - of course, Friday The 13th haha. Valentine's is always a reminder of either getting a ton of Valentine's card in elementary school, or none at all (like myself - a Ralph Wiggum-Type who always sat alone in the cafetaria and only got a token card from the Teech). But who knows - I have a family, and it's a celebration of just, Hearts. Heart-Shaped Redness. Nothing more, nothing less.

Let's get "Phat". I can never get why "Plus Size" is used, when you have 6 extra characters (including the space) to waste you breath or energy on. Wouldn't it be just easier and quicker to just say, "Fat" haha. Now that's "Phat"! With that said, a 'N-O' to the 'F-A-T' haha.

Justin Lin's "Finishing The Game". For me, it's "Finishing The Etudes" and "Finishing The Variations". Booyah! (fist bumping the Ping Pong Playa).

Friday, February 13, 2026

Aside from Thach's high-energy, Scotty Nguyen-Type "Daaayum!" moments, he'll give some serious life advice as well. Don't pamper or spoil your kids. Yes - you can give them some things, but not everything (and he certainly means inheritance haha). They'll end up as lazy and stoopid as most folks. I might have become a mild example - I never worked really that hard, just the bare minimum.

I'm certainly "diggin' " the Diggy / The 'Boj current storyline. It's all too real unfortunately.

I'm looking to finish the 3 Etudes from Franz Liszt. Sometime this year - not anytime soon however. Like most pieces, I've already got a jump-start on them earlier but they were abandoned. Going back, it's just a matter of smoothing them out. I'm on the lookout for new pieces, or pieces to refine.

Thursday, February 12, 2026

Thanks, Steven He! We found the ideal barbershop or hair-cutting place - it's called, "Ben & Jerry's"! *with that sarcastic Fresh Prince look*. I think I'll buy an Ice Cream Sundae at "Stupid Cuts" haha.

Between Steven He and Tony LC Signs video clips, which is more hilarious. Steven provides commentary or a mock-u-mentary, while Tony's stare or look just says it all. He only needs to promote or advertise his signages.

Quest in Slo-Mo, running after Veyda for that Cupcake. It's the Bionic Baby, with chipmunk cheeks flappin' and mouth agape running Slo-Mo with the Bionic sound effects - "Gimme my Cupcake now!!".

Liszt's Concert Etude No. 2 is progressing quicker than I thought. Booyah!

Tuesday, February 10, 2026

Nuhmeh Heavy Slurping-Style! My kind of Guy, Quang haha. The One-Of-A-Kind Chef Maestro is allowed to slurp and chew loudly. Have you seen him eat and talk with his mouth open in one of his videos yet? Probably, not - but that's where fans would draw the line haha. Anyhoo - that's the ideal sauce for me as well - tons of fresh tomatoes, basil, some paste and other seasoning. It has to be completely savory, not sweet (perhaps a tinge).

Some more hilarious Steven He tidbits of the day - "Stupid" Cuts, as well as Stupid Prices. Why go to these chains, they are all only Fluff and nothing else. All Fluff / Talk, No Substance At All (which depicts mainstream or media in general). Everything put into marketing and gimmicks, while everything else suffers - quality haircuts, affordable pricing, and hiring actually competent barbers. In the end, everything is over-priced. Either do it yourself, or have your spouse or parent cut your hair.

Roll call again:
Liszt, Concert etude No. 2
J.S. Bach, the rest of the Variations

Monday, February 09, 2026

When it comes to marriage: "We're in it for the long time, not to have a good time". If you can have both and make it last, that's ideal but not realistic. When it comes to couples, Tim and Chia Chantarangsu are a few to actually respect. There isn't much out there. Falling in love initially can either last or more often not, not last at all. It usually disappears (you'd be better off with just a fling, not a relationship or marriage). Which is why you have to look inwards, and decide what is love to you. Is it just a physical attraction thing (which is always temporary), or something more - prioritizing and thinking of your spouse first because want to spend the rest of your life with that person and taking care of your kids well. There needs to be a common base, common bond and commitment from both spouses. In the end, you do not have to be attracted to each other at all.

I favor arranged matchings over out-right dating in the first place. Let's face it though, I've been a life-long reject anyway (similar to Bobby Lee, and most Asian Guys - tried a dating site once as an experiment, was turned down or ignored after seeing my face). Only to realize that it's the very same thing I've done to others without giving them a chance. The first arranged matching for example fell apart when I was in my mid-20s. Of course, if I could turn back time knowing what I know now, we'd probably be together. But I'm fortunate life gave my many chances, with my current wife and kids. My spouse has helped me overcome many things, although it's been a "one step forward, two steps back" issue. I still have bad tendencies or habits.

This has been a serious blog, very rare but it'll happen. Only as an introspective way to reflect for myself, and by chance - if anyone happens to come across this site. Once again, back on track with a humorous tidbit or two: Steven He's clips of bowling alley fails or "fallin' on their ass" mishaps. Perhaps you might consider actually wearing 'Bowling Shoes'. I heard they have traction and are required in bowling alleys anyway. How did they fall on their asses if they were wearing them anyway.

Roll call (current practice repertoire):
Liszt, Concert Etude No. 2
J.S. Bach, finish the Variations

That is all. For now.

Sunday, February 08, 2026

Gotta like Sungwon Cho's bluntness in describing food - it's bad, it's really bad. Not to mention - bland, soggy, dry as fuck, etc. Hahaha. ProZD is definitely "a straight-shooter with upper management written all over him". I subbed. New Sungwon Cho saying: "Juice Me Up". In addition to, "The Juice Is Loose", "The Glove Actually Fit On The Juice", etc. With that said, TV Dinners are actually that bad. I suppose they were made in haste. I don't think cooking them in an oven would make that much of a difference. I only ate them way back when, because I was too lazy or hated to shop and cook. Actually, both. And still am. Haha.

Tony Ann's new composition "Rush of Life" has some J.S. Bach sounds, blended with contemporary sounds or sensibilities. You can definitely feel that "Rush of Life" experience, combined with Tony Ann's own life's experiences and thoughts.

My throwback piece of the day is Mendelssohn's Scherzo a capriccio. All recordings done on the old camcorder are subject for a re-do, but I'm pretty much done at this point. I just wanted to re-record pieces that I want to highlight or part of my favorites of the composer. New mobile phones have better resolution, sound and clarity. Or my old camcorder was just broke. This piece highlighted my chaotic state of mind at that time, so I wanted to learn this as much as I could.

Saturday, February 07, 2026

What is there to look forward to - there's Lunar New Year's to look forward to. Otherwise, quiet and uneventful month.

On the content creator's scene, I can't wait to find out what Mac's mother has to say in terms of advice or wisdom. Personally, I would not at all consider areas where it's a one, big "tourist trap". Temptations abound if you have connections or hookups who try to "convince" you as if they were sales persons. In reality, they are probably scamming the poor locals up their wazoo. Hell No.

Once in awhile, it's nice to enjoy family trips. It has to be a place where it can be relaxing and enjoyable, to take your mind off of things. It was our second time at Great Wolf Lodge, and again - relaxing and enjoyable. Families are there to have fun, relax and watch / guide their kids have fun. Lots to do, and lots to eat. Of course, these days - everything is pricey. The resort with the all the lighted Christmas lights was fun as well, a literal wonderland.

Tuesday, February 03, 2026

Mendelssohn's "Spinning Song"! This is a fun one, but very tricky or difficult to play it "Presto". I have to condition my fingers more with more chromatic-type etudes or pieces.

Finishing the "Appassionata" Sonata is going to take more time. While I'm practicing other pieces, I have to be in the proper mood or intensity first. Otherwise, it'll become messy or incoherent without dynamics. It's not enough to just play a piece loud or soft. There has to be accentuations, subtleties, crescendos / de-crescendos (if called for), etc. In essence, pay attention to the sheet music. The JYS tip of the day.

It goes without saying, if a person like myself who already suffers from anxiety or anti-social, it is much more difficult to leave the house if I stay home all day, every day for awhile. It makes trips that much more difficult. Gotta overcome it.

2 "C'mons" -

C'mon, Quang - Waste not, want not. I'll gladly devour all them potato wedges in a heartbeat haha. On a serious note, I think he shares them with his family anyway. Nevertheless, you should have ate some just for the video. But hell yeah - steak, baked / fried chicken go well with potato wedges, drenched in olive oil or seasoning. BBQ Sauce as a bonus. I can only eat ketchup with baked chicken.

C'mon, Tony Ann - most fans like 2 of the tracks. Either put all of them, or two of them. For me, it's 3 and 4.

I just practiced through Liszt Concert Etudes No. 2 and 3. They are technically demanding in their own right, just as No. 1 was. No. 1 is the most melodic and emotional of the 3 etudes however, and remains my favorite. It'll take quite awhile - perhaps within the year to finish at least one of them (since I do not have the consistent time to practice, play or record - only whenever there is a chance to).

With that said, Liszt might be the composer to focus on for this year. Others would include Schubert and Beethoven.

Sunday, February 01, 2026

I would've selected Tony Ann's "Euphoria" for an ensemble accompaniment. But I said it before - all three of them (and more of his compositions), would've been quite grand with an accompaniment.

We hear ya, Mac - "been there, done dat". The wild party scene is a No-No. Tourist spots are a No-No. Mac has matured beyond words, but still standing his ground and knocking peeps out haha. Rightfully so. While confrontation is only necessary as means for self-defense or defending others in a threatening situation, you want to avoid it as much as possible or better yet - resolve things civilly or peacefully. And the best situation - completely avoid areas where you know there'll be or might be troublemakers, assholes, racists, etc. Just find areas where you'll just be with your own - that's what I would do if I were to travel solo. Fortunately for me, I don't travel at all. But it'll eventually be necessary for family's sake.

Friday, January 30, 2026

Nuhmeh "Don't Cram Too Much Into Ugly Houses"-Style! I'm no real estate guru, but why would anyone want a two-car garage on an ADU. How about worrying about having a decent toilet or plumbing first haha.

A new journey has begun with Liszt's 3 concert etudes, beginning with No. 1 - which is a favorite. Which is also why I had to re-work this. It's a very lyrical, expressive piece - I have an affinity with these types of pieces, along the lines of fantasy-type piece. More thought later, but in a nutshell - it is imperative to play the accentuations when called for, since there are a lot of notes, ornament notes in the supporting melody or bass. The melodic line has to be heard clearly. I enjoyed the key changes, the different phrasing of the melody, and, somewhat the leaps (which was quite the doozy) - it a staple of Liszt.

Wednesday, January 28, 2026

I'm certain a lot of Tony Ann's compositions would sound grand with an orchestral accompaniment, or even a symphonic one. I'm curious about "Euphoria" the most. While all three would sound even more grand with an accompaniment, they are dynamic enough as standalone solo pieces.

270 years is a long time. Sure beats the hell outta turning 50 last month haha. Still, highly influential or eternal music from composers are celebrated as much as anniversary classic films, every 5 or 10 years. Why not. That's why they stand the test of time, while most shit today are just - Forgettable with a capital F. With that said, here are some of my favorite Amadeus compositions:

Great Mass in C minor K. 427 (vocal / choir)
Serenade for Winds "Grand Partita" K. 361 (small ensemble)
Don Giovanni (opera)
Piano Concerto No. 20 K.466 (Concerto)
Piano Sonata K. 533 (Sonata)
Fantasy K. 475 (piano solo piece)

Tuesday, January 27, 2026

Quang Tran's wife sure can bake desserts well - cake, and now Donuts! They should consider opening a bakery or a Knitting shop for her. Talent definitely runs in the family.

Roll call:
Liszt, "Concert Etude" No. 1 (perhaps No. 2 & 3 in the future)
J.S. Bach, finish the Variations
L.v. Beethoven, "Appassionata" III. Allegro ma non troppo
L.v. Beethoven, "Appassionata" I. Allegro assai
F. Chopin, Scherzo in B-flat minor (if there is time)

Practicing doesn't always have to physically be at the piano or an instrument. You can "practice quietly" by just studying the score / sheet music, and "air playing or practicing". This isn't a method to rely on as a real practice, only to help.

Monday, January 26, 2026

Sam Ock - I think I've heard of him, but really never got to familiarize with his music. Perhaps it's time. But what a guest. Someone different other than Ed Park for a change. Haha. I can't really listen or watch a podcast or video longer than 20+ minutes, otherwise my attention span tends to drift or I doze off. Doesn't matter what it is. So I just listen to parts at a time, spread over several days or within a day if time. So far, Sam is quite eloquent and tells it like it is. He's right on point - Music is about creating how you want to create it. Express it how you want to express it. As long as you have the passion for them. Similar to art.

I also haven't heard from Joe Seo in awhile - glad that to hear about the new project, "Stem". Something I'd rent in a heartbeat to watch if available.

Nuhmeh "I Made Money But I Have Nothing To Show For It"-Style! Ain't that the truth for all industries. To be fair - there are realtors who are not cut out to be investors or not interested in it at all despite the huge profit or income potential. Because there's simply too much work and risk involved. There are no guarantees despite doing everything right or putting in the hours that'll you turn out to be a success story like Thach Nguyen. Fo'get the Lambo Dream - just enjoy Thach's video shaking his head, and saying "I Made Money But I Have Nothing To Show For It" x 100.

*I don't really blog on my site about my personal life or any serious subjects. It's mostly for humor and what I find interesting out there. As well as a platform to share my recordings. Once in awhile, I'll blog about something serious - pertaining to family or myself. When family or a loved one becomes hospitalized, it's a wake-up call. Our prayers everyday for Appa - please get well, so you can spend time with your Grandchildren again.

Saturday, January 24, 2026

Weird gear is fascinating and all, but sometimes you have to go back and look for old material, like Song Challenges. Andrew Huang's 300 words in 50 seconds. How did I miss this one - a few years after what is probably my favorite Andrew Huang track - "Rappin' Without The Letter E". So fast, I can't even make out his words, but he probably enunciated well. After 15 takes, why not. It's still a feat - writing the lyrics in an hour so, memorizing it, and then spitting it out for a recording. I think he can recite that "Hardware Store" section in under 30 seconds for sure haha.

Who is Kota The Yoda - only the real-life DK or Drift King haha. Congratulations on turning Pro, and having a family. I'm not exactly an avid fan of cars, but certainly would be fans of the content creator themselves. Drifting is still an interesting form of driving or racing.

Thursday, January 22, 2026

I think out-going folks or extroverts are not going to feel comfortable or feel they belong in an area or region where most folks keep to themselves, or are quiet. I think Korea and Japan are mostly like that, but that is not to say they are not helpful or friendly. I'm sure there might be areas where there are out-going or aggressive folks - for me, I'd avoid or stay away from that. Especially tourist areas. Mac's calling might be in Foshun - he has a knack for that Shaolin Wing Chun - Wah-Paaaah!!. Hahah. Or at least, somewhere in the vicinity. That's the plight of the Asian-American or Asian-Whatever: you don't also get the sense of belonging in the motherland as well. It's all a mindset however.

As someone who doesn't like to go out or go on trips to begin with, it makes it tough especially if you have to do it for the kids. Unless it's something that can take your mind off or forget about the anxieties. A recent trip (at the beginning of the month) was to a resort with colorful Christmas lightings on nearly all the trees / bushes around it. Not only I could imagine it took a lot of work to put them up, the end result is breath-taking and magical. I might post pictures.

In finishing J.S. Bach's Variations, I plan to combine the shorter variations (2 & 4, 6 & 7 & 10, etc.) but standalone videos for the longer ones - 8, 16, 17. Once you have the sense of the tempo and where the melodic notes are, there seems to be more inspiration for me. Chopin's "Scherzo" in B-flat minor - this was a piece I started learning when I was learning the piano as a teen, but abandoned. Now, it might be something to return to. Scherzi is different to me, I imagine my own fractured mind back in the day.

Wednesday, January 21, 2026

Holy Similarities, Batman! Julian Zhu looks like a young Lang Lang with that haircut haha. He appears to play just as well, although we have to hear the entire piece. I never finished the Fantasie-Impromptu, but Julian's tempo sounds like the appropriate tempo. As long as the melodic notes are heard - the ones you play with the pinkie finger (sort of like the "Aeolian Harp" etude). The middle section - probably a bit slower, savor the tranquility before becoming frenetic again.

Go Yolo, Eating a Rollo, And Going To "Tony Romo's" haha. Damn, Quang - Tony Romo's ribs sounds when you bit into it and looks dry as fuck, as if they just bought pre-cooked ribs from a grocery store and just defrosted it in a microwave haha.

And now, my comments on Tim & Chia's Christmas vlog:

1. What a sorry-ass, lookin' Santa. Where did they hire this guy? He looks either severely depressed, or just doesn't want to be there - "Oh shit, more kids. Let's just get this over with so I can get paid".

2. What kid got more moves than Quest? Not only the Yummy Dance, but also the Yuletide Dance - just raise one arm up, and just wiggo / jiggo around. Nuhmeh Quest-Dance Style! Hahaha.

3. Did we get to see Tim C.'s reaction to receiving Liquid Death as a gift? Goddamn, Chia - just say that you hate giving presents. So do most of us. Hahaha. It takes too much energy just to think of one.

Daayum, Chia - if you unraveled 'that thing' called hair, you might look like a female version of Carrot Top in his prime (hair wilder than Bob Ross' fo' sho' haha).

I always enjoy hearing "Dudes Behind The Foods" dad or father stories. Just when you think you're alone in struggling to parent, you have D-So 'shoo-ing away his kid's hands', the "See How You Like It" type of reaction haha. It's ok, I throw tantrums myself. I remember being a guy at 185 lbs at my heaviest (ten or so years ago), I didn't exactly have 2 floppy 'chest pillows', but it was close enough considering my thin or weak bone structure. That's how thin folks can appear 'fat'. Kind of a distorted or deformed fat, with a neck beard / beer belly and everything else thin type of fat-lookin'.

Roll call (current practice pieces / future pieces):

Beethoven's "Appassionata" Sonata
J.S. Bach, finishing the Variations (it's possible - I was originally only going to do just select ones or my favorites, but I realized. The more I play or practice them, new inspiration just hits me all of a sudden. I'll have to re-organize my J.S. Bach page for sure. I might combine the short variations however to save space).
Tony Ann - Carol of the Bells / either Rush of Life or Ascension (only if I can find the sheet music to them).
F. Schubert, Wanderer Fantasy

My taste in contemporary music only involves Independent / Youtube musicians I find, such as Tomo Nakayama or Goh Nakamura. Otherwise, I only listen to classic rock back in the '80s (and even '70s). Michael Jackson certainly had hits back in the day. And of course - there's Weird Al. Haha.

Classical music is an acquired taste, as in folk music. I didn't enjoy the piano when I was an adolescent, nor enjoyed classical music all that much. I find Chinese Folk Music very unique and soothing. A lot of modern or contemporary music is based off of classical melodies anyway. You can say, a lot borrow their melodies.

Today's pop music is just forgettable - mostly one-hit wonders or temporaries that won't even be remembered a few years from now. I'll even guaran-damn-tee it. Or even months. It's the same way with most of the goddamn entertainment industry.

Sunday, January 18, 2026

Here are some Sunday funnies / tidbits from social media since there is nothing else going on:

A "No Shit, Sherlock" moment from one of Tony LC Sign's many reactionary shorts or mock-umentaries: Eat Less. Move More. That's how you "magically" become thin. Haha. Them Hippos on the staircase weigh more than a ton - aside from moving buildings like an earthquake, "Jaws" would already be full taking one bite outta one of them. You know someone obese or Fat is also Lazy as hell, if that person has to take ozempic instead of exercising to lose weight.

I'd be more impressed if that guy could tell what someone ate by someone's Fart. Hahaha. Yeah, that's really garcia sausages. It smells more like the HFC's huge-ass dookie.

Good ole VHS horror tapes - they are far more creepier or horrifying than any of today's CGI or art work on horror bluray, DVDs or modern posters. Remember going into your local video store into the horror section - yikes.

I began to watch some J-Dramas, beginning with a mystery drama called "Signposts in the Night" or Yoru no Dohyo Aru Yogi Sha wo Meguru Kiroku. It begins as just an ordinary mystery thriller or suspense about a murderer, but we find out who the murderer is or what it's about. In the end, the drama deals with a controversial procedure that prevents individuals from having kids - the main motive for the murder. Granted - the suspect is a mentally disabled individual or severely autistic, so emotions are non-existent or he doesn't understand nor have any.

This was a slow-paced one, but it unfolded well and carefully. I would have to watch more J-Dramas or C-Dramas to tell the differences in Asian Dramas. But they might be all spell-binding in their own right.

What a tribute to Jeremy Lin - D'Antoni, L. Fields, T. Chandler, and D12. What made Linsanity memorable. Of course - Jeremy Lin was more than that. Jeremy Lin's career highlights for me (other than Linsanity) was his time with New Taipei Kings - that's what basketball is really about.

It's been awhile for the first movement "Appassionata" - it felt more difficult than the third, but then again - I have to practice and get used to it. Chopin's Grand Valse uploaded. I didn't want to give up on this since it felt like a fantasy-type piece in Waltz form. If anyone is familiar, Waltzes have a brisk, steady pace. So sometimes, all the phrases and fingering can get tricky so it took awhile. The chords are all over the place as well, so it wasn't easy.

Chopin is a favorite for nearly every pianist - however, I tend to feel that as melodic as they are, they are played or heard a bit too much. Still - the composer has the most diverse range of piano repertoire there is - Ballades, Waltzes, Nocturnes, Scherzi, Sonatas, Polonaises, etc.

Who is Tony LC Sign. Thanks to Mac for the introductions haha. The dude is not only a Sales / Marketing guru, he appears to be a master at reacting to very disturbing shit out there that I completely avoid. And reacts very mockingly or making fun of - going right into his Sales / Marketing pitch for his product afterwards. The Asian Billy Mays or Phil Swift haha.

Sung Kang seemed fine to me when Larry Chen interviewed him briefly. I think Sung is just a soft-spoken, humble guy - something that is frowned or looked down upon, but much preferred for some of us than the asshats out there. Guys like Jeremy Lin or Ke Huy Quan, who are also similar (heaping praise or attention away from themselves but unto others) is typically seen as a 'sign of weakness to be taken advantage of', but it's a sign of absolute strength in truth - since it's a very difficult thing to do for almost everyone due to our selfish nature. There might be some out there that do surprise us sometimes. You never know. With that said, I'm looking forward to watching a teaser or a trailer for "Drifter".

I find Simu Liu praising others a bit too much, but at least he speaks his mind about issues when he should. Hell, I'd do it without even thinking about it. So it works out or balances out haha.

Was Tim C. lightly roasting his wife, or was that a genuine Happy Birthday greeting haha. It be like, 'Dear' Chia, your head looks like a 'Deer' but you'll always be en-'Dear'-ing to me, My 'Dear'-est wife. Haha.

There hasn't been anything more newsworthy than Taika talking and acting out / playing with his fingers (I did that too when I was a lil'un) about Poop stories for 15 minutes straight. Be warned kids - yo' mammas can lay a huge-ass Dookie and stank the bathroom for days (or the toilets becoming clogged for days).

To play a L.v. Beethoven Sonata, especially the Appassionata, my belief or opinion is that you have to have your emotions in-check or be emotionally stable / mature. Because the emotions can become overwhelming - the pieces are not only melodic, but powerful with all the chords and arpeggios. This is why I don't play Beethoven all too often - it can get overwhelming. Adding that emotional experience only adds and enhances to the piece or performance. However, keep it in-check or stable. Or else, it can get messy or incoherent.

With that said, I'm looking forward to the "Appassionata". I'm only familiar with a handful of Sonatas, so it would be presumptious to think this piece is his most powerful or melodic one. There are quite a few that might have the same influence that I do not know yet. His Sonatas can be long, so a lot of them are going to have to just stay as they are, only listening to other performances if interested at all.

Who the hell gives beer or alcohol as a Christmas gift?! haha. Granted, some of us (especially me) hate giving gifts because the recipient ends up hating them anyway. So what's the point - "it's the thought that counts" is just bullshit now. My idea of a gift - just a gift card (it doesn't require any thought because it's too tiring to even think for me haha). Even gift cards, the recipient is most likely going to not even use it at all. These days, there isn't anything worth buying. However, gimme that Walmart gift card instead of Liquid Death. Or, I'm more of the, or my theme: "Get it yer own goddamn self". Hahaha.

The "sense of belonging" and "being most comfortable" are two different things. It's all a state of mind. Which is why I would prefer to only visit or stay in Asia. If I didn't have mild phobia of public transportations (still feel they are not as safe anymore) which limits / prohibits any excitement of traveling abroad if at all. Props to Mac for even trying Korea. I heard the stress levels there are off-the-charts, so you won't get a lot of smiles or warm conversations often. Same with China and Japan I think, but they all deal with it in their own way. Still - I feel East Asians are the most friendly or accommodating (perhaps too accommodating to the damn western world). Korea has some excellent dramas, which is the only thing to watch nowadays.

If a purported haunted location sounds like someone's ordinary house, or no one has ever heard of it, chances are - they're completely bogus. Some collabs are also red flags. I think there is only so much that "Ghost Files" can do to make their investigations "authentic". Perhaps they have to bend a little (such as collaborating with complete frauds), because that's what's trending and gets views. Sad state of affairs.

After finishing off Var. 5 and 23, Chopin's Grand Valse might be next. Afterwards, focusing on Beethoven's Appassionata Sonata. More thoughts on my classical repertoire blog soon.

Saturday, January 10, 2026

There are actually some new pieces to learn - Tony Ann's new Rush of Life and Ascension (as well as his masterful "Carol of the Bells" arrangement). If I can find his original sheet music. Some fans or pianists might be able to learn this by ear. Booyah!

Jimmy Zhang hasn't updated in awhile, but his latest update suggests he's been busy with filming HOF S3. It's a wait-and-see for me. S2 had interesting characters. We'll see.

Apparently, Quest did not approve of Tim Chantarangsu's new hairdo or lack of haha. It's perhaps because of that hairline that is accentuating his massive head haha. Chia chugging that beer bottle - gone in seconds. Highlight of the video haha. Perhaps the corn bread didn't sit well with her either.

Friday, January 09, 2026

With the new year, I had some rigorous / productive practices for (only when my wife takes the kids out): Beethoven's Appassionata Sonata, Chopin's Grand Valse and Schubert's Wanderer Fantasy. I've been putting them off for awhile, since I needed to finish or polish off other pieces. More thoughts on returning to Beethoven soon. For me, this could be the "Year Of The Wanderer". With limited practice time, there is no timetable. It might take a year or longer. The main reason for putting them off, my hands or fingers needed more conditioning to tackle epic pieces. Now it's damn ripe, and it's time.

For me, Mendelssohn, Brahms and Schubert are underrated composers that don't get played or heard much. But I'm trying to change that, but putting them at the forefront of my repertoire. Other than the Big 3.

Can't wait for new content from Mac. He's finished his business in SE Asia (for now), and to start anew. I thought he would be at Guongzhou, but it's another city. I wish he could convert his Mac Worldwide Facebook posts into Youtube shorts so I can like and favorite - especially the Shaolin Wing Chun one wah-paaaaah!! haha. Can't get enough of that.

Jeremy Lin is having a great retirement it appears (like other personalities or content creators who have multiple businesses, Jeremy Lin has also something to focus on post-basketball). Fans don't need to know what is being said from Jay Chou and others - they're more or less wishing J-Lin a happy retirement or something similar I bet.

Mac be "'trippin'" with Mac Trips haha. But in all seriousness, it's a good idea. If anything, fans get to see what types of fans are out there and what they are going to do (perhaps take up Shaolin Wing Chun? wah-paaah! haha). I'm just a homebody - I hate going out or on trips (phobias especially with public transportation doesn't help). I have to force myself for the sake of the family. There are rare situations where I end up enjoying it, if it's something that I'd actually look forward to that would make me completely forget about anyone around me, or become oblivious. Afterall, most everything is forgotten after enough time passes (even as short as a few days haha).

There are already tons of foodie or mukbang Youtubers, so it's a wait-and-see for me how ProZD's new Food Channel is. A lot of content are just not my type nor have any interest in them. I stay subbed to a lot of content creators as long as the majority of content is.

Variations 5 and 23 are the final. When it comes to playing or pacticing, you have to make it fun and enjoyable. I think everyone has their own way. If you are just not feelin' or gettin' it, perhaps it isn't for you. We can't teach talent. We can't teach passion. Take up painting or drawing instead, and become a Bob Ross haha.

Relaxing is key to playing effectively. Relaxing is key to performing well. Unfortunately, 'relaxing' is more difficult than learning difficult music. It's even worse if some of us suffer from anxiety. It adds to the nerves. Relaxing helps individuals to not over-think, and to even improvise or confidently play errors or mistakes in their favor without compromising the flow. That's performance. A nervous-wreck would break down and stop playing. So how does one relax? I don't have an answer since I suffer from anxiety. When it comes to normal nervousness, experience and just forcing yourself out there only helps. With more experience and confidence, music would naturally flow and you would know what to do.

I can definitely see Mac as Donnie Yen's successor for IP Man haha. The C-Mac-Daddy definitely has the chops (afterall, we fans are all "Choppies" haha), and sound effects that would put the Sound Effects Guy from "Police Academy" to shame haha.

Who can't get enough of Quest's "Yummy Dance" haha. They are the highlights for me.

Thursday, January 01, 2026

Mac in Foshan, Fo' Sho' wah-paaah! Hahaha. That's headline news right there. I reckon 2026 might be another unremarkable year it's lookin' like. Individually however, some of us can make it stand out for ourselves. I'll do some reflecting on 2025 in another blog post.

Speaking of 'reflecting', I went back to listen / watch again Lang Lang's "Reflections" video with an Ehru accompaniment. It's a soothing and remarkable sound, I feel it is greater than some string instruments. This is a precursor to my upcoming recording of a piano solo only. From an arrangement of course.

I'm not experienced with Blues or Jazz rhythms, so improvisation doesn't come naturally for me. Hisaishi's The bygone days from Porco Rosso has that very contemplative, soothing / relaxed imagery. Sometimes borderline lonely. Imagine sitting in a dark, small joint, quietly smokin' a cigarette and drinking some shots. Just thinking.

Epic pieces to continue: Schubert's Wanderer Fantasy, Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2, Beethoven's Appassionata Sonata. These are long-term pieces to learn eventually. In the meantime, actually finding meaningful pieces can be difficult. But they eventually somehow manifests themselves.
