APRIL 2014

I wasn't planning on doing anything in particular yesterday, but then I felt inspired to record the Fantasia K.475. Also recorded and uploaded is a rendition of a Hisaishi composition from an anime.

Mozart, Sonata D Major K.576 a. Allegro b. Adagio c. Allegretto
K.576. It's a dynamic piece that's become a favorite. Although this is it for me, I'll continue to play the Sonatas as I enjoyed returning to them. Mozart's music goes beyond the piano Sonatas, as it is a vast repertoire of concertos, symphonies and ensemble pieces for a lot of instruments. Some of my favorites are a few Concertos and ensemble pieces, as I'm sure most classical music enthusiasts can appreciate that.

I've spent quite some time on the piano going through pieces, whether just to play or to record and share. But with more sunlight now and the weather warming, we're heading into a season of outdoor and recreational activities. I don't really have much interest in activities like running or biking, but I'll usually consider hiking. With the mountains and breathtaking landscape here, I'm sure there are hiking trails around. But the bottom line is that I have to try to get out more. I probably won't, other than getting something to eat or spending time with others. If I'm not going to exercise, the least I could do is get my ass out the door.

Since I've moved out here over a year ago, it's been pleasant for the most part and I'm certainly glad that I did. Perhaps a decision that I actually don't regret for once. I think it was definitely a crucial step towards change in my life, during a period when my life needed some kind of change. And now, I should eventually anticipate taking another step in my life somewhere down the road. When the weather is nice and the sun is out, there is nothing more serene and calming than the landscape and nature around here. Although I'm not exactly an evergreen type enthusiast, the Cascade mountains are certainly breathtaking.

It's still a bit cold to go on a camping trip, and it can still rain patches now and then. I think the ideal season is in the summer, when there are days of clear skies and sunlight. I'll have to make sure to get a one-person tent. It's not exactly a pleasant experience when someone is prone to tossing and turning or snoring muhaha.

I got my tax return done early for once. I'm sure it can get quite tedious when there are a lot of deductions or itemizing that's necessary, but it isn't arduous at all anyway. It's usually laziness that results in procrastination of certain tasks. Now I need to get other things done that I haven't yet.

The Mozart K.576 is going to be the final Sonata for sure. Afterwards, I'm looking forward to the Liszt "La Campanella" and taking a rest from recordings for awhile. But the search for new repertoire is usually continuous, as well as going through old repertoire again. Usually, that's how I'll find a piece that's been unfinished or left unfinished. If I'm inspired or interested in the piece, I'll work on it again. I definitely don't think inspiration and discipline is enough, a pianist has to be interested in the piece as well. More thoughts later on my classical piano web page.

It certainly takes awhile as far as finding a new place to live or a new home is concerned. There are a lot of variables involved including living conditions and preferences. But now that my lease is up, perhaps I should've considered it. But for now, I'll have to stay here for awhile by renewing the lease. It's alright, at least I won't have to move furniture and other heavy stuff any time soon I guess heh. I'm certain though that I'll most likely move out after this term, because I'm sure there are other ideal locations or areas somewhere.

When I get inspired to record a piece, I schedule a time to do it; usually on the weekends. When I get the creative impulse to add new content or update a web page in its entirety, I do it. I'm sure there are a lot of creative individuals who hesitate to share their interests, thoughts and talents. Confidence is really important as well as a bit of humility. There are still a few ideas here and there, but I don't plan on creating or implementing them just yet if at all.
